Bagong Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The Bagong Formation was named by Li Pu in 1955. The named section is located in Bagong, north of Wangka, Chaya County, Tibet
Synonym: Gaila Fm, Duogalla Fm, Atula Fm were the previous subdivisions.
Lithology and Thickness
Lower member (Adura member) is composed of black and gray shale, carbonaceous shale with a small amount of feldspar quartz sandstone and coal line, with siderite layer, nodules or lens in the lower part. The thickness is 428 ~ 1090 m. Upper member (Duogaila member) is mainly composed of gray feldspar quartz sandstone and gray black siltstone, which contains mining coal seam. The thickness is 564 ~ 1751 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The lower Adura member is conformable contact with the underlying Fubolila Fm (=Bolila Fm in this lexicon usage)
Upper contact
The upper Duogaila member is conformable contact with Chaya Fm of Jurassic (or below the Dayer Fm in this Jurassic Lexicon usage)
Regional extent
This formation is widely distributed between the Nujiang River and Jinsha River.

Fossils
The lower member is represented by the assemblage of Burmesia Lirata-Myophoria (Costatoria) napengensis, and the upper member is dominated by the assemblage of Clathropteris meniscioides-dictyophyllum nathorsti.
Age
Depositional setting
The Gaila Fm (Duogalla member in this Lexicon usage) is a transitional deposit from normal Marine facies to continental and marine facies, and the Atula member is a coastal marsh facies.
